I mentioned in a previous post that I had gardening buddies, and figured I should introduce them and post some all new pics of the spotty duo :) First up is River, or Roo-Roo as we also call her. Standing all pretty and regal looking next to the dwarf lemon. Probably headed to her 'chill out spot' just to the south of the tree, where she'll lie down and get thoroughly dirty. River is pretty mellow and laid back except when there are other dogs barking or people out and about tending to their own yards (how dare they!). She's pretty terratorial. 7 years old now, how time flies!
And then just as we have day we have night, and that would be Sky, Sky-B-Doo, doodles, doobie boo, mad muffin or any of the numerous names this one has. In a word she's insane. Totally a Tigger to Rivers Eeyore! She's wound up so tight that she cannot stay still for long. This is her on a typical day in the garden checking out the new gopher holes. Just incase one should decide to come back and pop it's head out - she's ready! Trust me! She even practices pouncing on the holes and 'digging' at them! Like I said INSANE! She stood here for about 5 minutes till she went and checked out another hole for 5 minutes... and so on... keeps her busy!
The really are chalk and cheese, but they share a common activity in the garden and that is - squirrel duty! They both take this duty VERY seriously and woe betide any rodent that decides to come near our garden! The relaxed morning gardening can turn quite noisy and boisterous with the arrival of a squirrel! They climb along the utility wires from garden to garden and use the post next door as a stopping point to climb their trees. The squirrels are a pest pinching my veggies/fruits and eating my lemon tree so I let the girls go ahead and scare them off. Usually this is a barking match between the girls whilst the squirrel sits on the post and 'chips' at them. Squirrels are pretty noisy when they want to be!
So there you have it! My two gardening buddies :)
